Hi Everyone -
My first post here
We have an '87 runner and just bought rims for it from Summit Racing. The new rims are Pro Comp Extreme - got the backspacing figured correctly on the first try!
The only problem is that the new center caps for rear and the open end ones for the front are very tight. The old ones (which are on it right now) just slide right on with no prob.
I contacted Summit and they said that it's normal for the caps to fit very tight on Toyotas, and to clean the hub area off with sandpaper or wire disc, then put some grease or anit-seize on the inner lip of the cap and slide it on. They also said it's not unusual to have to take a wooden block and mallet and carefully tap the center cap firmly into place.
Is this true? I don't want to get something on there I can't get off in the future. These old American Racing caps look like poop.
