I believe I read somewhere that it is held in place by a few trim clips and with the right amount of tugging, it just pulls up and out of the dash. I've seen a thread where a guy re-ran new speaker leads to the speaker and used it as a CB speaker.....but have not seen anyone replace it for an aftermarket speaker. I guess the only reason is if you wanted a high-end 5.1 setup...but if you were doing this, wouldn't you want a minimum of a 5 1/4" speaker? I think the OEM is like a 4" at best. So if you want to change it, you are probably looking at some cutting or going with a minimal upgrade at best.

thanks for the reply...i was thinking of getting the pioneer avh-7500 has dvd and 5.1 sound...it has a center channel speaker output...i guess i will take the speaker out and take a look at what it looks like and if it is possible to replace with a 4 inch aftermarket speaker...if anyone has done this, please let me know how it went..thanks

try a search for "center speaker". I think I saw a post also about a 3.5" replacement.

Post pics when you are done.
