Hi. A few days ago i noticed the left half of the center console LCD (the one that shows temperature, MPG, etc) on my '06 4Runner dims periodically. Does anybody know if this LCD is backlit by bulbs or by LEDs?

Thanks. I was worried that if it were an LED backlight it could indicate a problem with the circuit board itself. A flickering bulb is much easier to replace.
You need to remove the climate control assy. and replace those busted bulbs remember which side that didn't lit. The part numbers are:
90010-09019 long green
90010-09015 long yellowish
90010-09017 short white
You can read this whole thread until you'll see pics of where those bulbs are located: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showt...light=remove the climate control&pagenumber=1
As for the LCD display, there are two bulbs - left and right. I'ved tried Christmas bulbs on that and won't recommend...for the controls which are shorter bulbs, you can buy them from radioshack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103780
