Center console pad, will 1996-1998 fit 1995?

**Sorry, I meant the armrest pad from a 1996-1998 4runner, not the 1999.**

I'd like to replace my bent, broken and torn center console armrest pad/lid and I'm having a hard time finding a tan/oak lid for my 1995.

Will a 1996 armrest pad/lid fit the 1995 console? I don't care if it latches or not, I just want a "new" lid and the 1996 models seem available whereas the 1995 era style have been very hard to locate.

I'm not sure, but if you are near a pick/pull junkyard you could head over with some measurements from your lid and try to find one that matches. Then you would know and if it matches your trim and is in good condition you found your part, if there is nothing nice but it would fit you could order a new one.

I'm interested in what you find because my local yards are quite picked over and I too have a cracked and ripped lid in my 93.

I actually did try a few months ago looking for a lid and there was nothing but picked over bones as far as these trucks go. This was before I was considering a later model lid though so I didn't take any measurements.

Judging by the images it looks as if it will screw right on. The below link is just one of several I've been looking at.

I've sent a message to the seller to ask if it will work on a 1995 but I don't really expect them to give a definitive answer. I was hoping the community here might be able to confirm.

Yesterday I had the chance to compare the later model lid with the 95 and as you can see in the below pics the mounting holes do not line up.

But I think with a little modification it can work. By cutting down either side of the newer lid hinge, actually through the existing mount holes, and re-drilling some new holes that match the 95 console I think it should work just fine. The latching portion of the lid doesn't match up correctly, but I never cared about that anyway as my existing one has never latched since I've owned it. And with just a couple of Velcro pieces you can get the lid to stay closed.

I ordered the 96 lid but won't have it until this weekend or early next week, but when I get it and actually mount it I'll post back so everyone can see how it went.
