Center Console Removed - Is this grease? Normal?

Removed center console and came across this pan that had this gooey substance and wanted to verify if others who have removed their center console have come across this as well? Is this grease?

A while back on a rare occasion someone had borrowed my 4Runner and decided to spill things in there. So finally wanted to do take it apart to do some cleaning. It looked liked they had spilled coke which ran through the center console, along with staining the carpet on the sides.
Second stain under passenger seat was another umm great family member that spilled tea in my 4runner.

Besides my wife, all family members are now banned from using my 4runner and banned from drinking anything in there.

That brownish substance in the well in the first pic looks like dried soda syrup. get a paper towel wet and rub it. If it smells like soda and gets sticky than enough water, rubbing alcohol, and elbow grease will clean it up. if you put a finger in it and it is slick then I'd think grease.

Yea definitely want to clean all that up if its dried up corn syrup, but figured i check before i went crazy on it during lunch break today. It was quite sticky but my sense of smell sucks so will make pregnant wife smell it with her crazy heighted sense of smell. hahaha.

Mine was similar and I assumed someone spilled something or lots of things in there. Former owner used this truck like a sink drain it seems.

Someone has definitely spilled that in there, Toyota would never have grease in such a place without having it somewhat sealed to keep out dust and dirt, also nothing there that would need grease.

Made some progress.. Cleaned as much as I could. Its not perfect, but far better than when i started.
