Center Diff issue, or really clueless Driver?

I found this on the yootoobs today, and it just looks really silly.

Is it that there is an actual issue with this guys center diff?
or
is he just so uneducated about USING the full time 4WD system by changing it improperly, locking the diff on dry pavement, not to mention he keeps saying 'at highway speeds' when he is clearly just doing U turns in a tight parking lot. I know one of the first things i had to learn was the proper way to put my SR5 into 4L. This guy seems to just turn the dial like he's turning on a stovetop. He puts his into it, and the beeping never stops.

Add to that, i have learned that the real diff between the Runner (and wrangler) to these cross-overs are GEARS for the 4WD transfer case and center differentials, and not a clutch pack...which makes them much more robust. So locking it, then claiming "too much friction" is sort of an idiot calling water too wet...their gears, there is total friction when locking it buddy...

It goes without saying that locking the center diff on the 5th gen Limited is similar to 4Hi/Lo on the SR5/TEs...ie, you dont do it on dry land, and definatly dont do it and make tight turns in a dry sunny parking lot.

ok, he keeps saying he is a mech of 40yrs, that doesnt make him a smart driver or smart about how to operate the 4WD system any more than then the next person. That is why Toyota would never warranty a vehicle for life...they dont know what idiots are going to do with it.

What say you?

This guy is a mucking foron and fails the interwebs.

That video makes me cringe, I can literally feel the drivetrain bind up beneath me.

"I have requested Toyota provide a lifetime warranty for the vehicle based on total ignorance of how a 4WD center locker system works, they have refused and told me to shove a tampon up my arse."

The guy's clearly an idiot. I barely made it through the video due to the total stupidity of it. Asking Toyota for a lifetime warranty because you don't know jack s%*t about cars? I hope the comments on YouTube rip this guy a new one. Edit: Noticed comments are disabled. Maybe he's not as dumb as I thought!

Ignorance and arrogance are a dangerous combination. There is no way he is a mechanic of any kind. Just one more internet moron that thinks if he says he's a mechanic then everyone will believe him. Buy a Rav4, the 4Runner is too much vehicle for you.

You can't shift into L4L when in Drive, you need to put in into Neutral first. Guess he thought that beeping was just the radio performing to 4Runner design specs.

man...wow

watching this again, seeing he has the wheel turned fully during any attempts to roll while in locked diff mode on dry pavement, i mean...wow...cringe worthy.

then, the vid shows clearly he is sitting in a parking lot, and then says "highway speeds"...cmon man...

i would love to see the look on his face when any one of us jumped into his Runner and explained and demonstrated to him how fugging stupid he is.

THIS is exactly why cars come with an operation manual. He doesnt know how to operate the systems, Yet he knows the design is flawed.

That's hilarious! I think he needs to reach into the medication box in the console and wash down another handful of med's with that bottle of water. Maybe he should share a few with the guy riding shotgun too!

To bad he disabled the comments on youtube. Would love to school him!:wtf:

I did go back, and even though you cant leave him a note in the general tab...but on his subscribed youtube channel, this is his only video, and one other person has tried to educate him.

i left him a msg of the procedure of how to put it into 4lo, on the physics of why it wont roll with a locked center diff, hi or lo, with it turned totally to the left or right, and as nice as i could, saying he just didnt know what he was doing...along with the general toyota link on how to use the 4wd selector nob.

and to please stop turning the nob as if he was boiling eggs (a mr tony reference for any Littles out there :hatsoff:)

...lifetime warranty...pleeez
