Help me understand something, My Jeep rubicon had front and rear lockers. How is this different from my new 4runner limited with a center differential lock ?

center diff locked is just making it 50/50 front/rear power (like a PT 4WD). unlocked means you are in full-time 4WD (a little more power going to the rear wheels).

locking axles means equal power going to each wheel for that locked axle.

With the 4x4 limited and SR5 diff locked it is still essentially 2wd when 4x4 is engaged since it has open differentials. This might improve somewhat when using ATRAC.

Should of gotten a TE with the rear locker and KDSS suspension. This makes it a more capable off road vehicle.

The center diff lock is the equivalent of putting the jeep in 4wd. The 4R LE has the addition of full time 4wd which means you drive all the time in 4wd instead of 2wd or 4wd.

The axle lockers in your jeep are different from the differential lock. The axle lockers lock the left and right wheels together, while the center differential lock locks the front and rear wheels together.

When the center diff is locked it is essentially part time 4wd, which means only for off road or surfaces that have some slip, and if not no sharp turns.
