Central OH 4Runners

And as a general post, I am new to 4Runners, so new that I am still waiting for arrival. (~2 more long weeks to Joseph Toyota in Cincinnati - 17 Cement TRDP) setting it up as a DD/Overlanding rig. Getting quite anxious as parts are arriving before the truck, some assembly required haha.

Here is my issue... I do not do The Face Book. Is this going to be my undoing or is that really the only solid active means to find other locals in the Toyota family? (Lots of "Jeep Exclusive" clubs in my area)

So, relatively new 4R owner (Jeep, Bronco, Ranger4x4, and, a million years ago a Power Wagon) and been lurking on this forum for a few months now. Just now stumbled across this thread. I'll try to keep it on my "frequent check" list in the future.

Originally from SEO, but been in NWO for 20+ years now. Not on FB since my account got hacked last winter. Leaving FB was one of the best things I ever did .

Hiking Trails - Ohio

I am wondering if any of you have used this guide to find places to get the tires a bit dirty and find some good hiking? I'm new to Ohio and would like to do some exploring this summer/fall. Any recommendations? https://www.recreation.gov/unifSearchResults.do

Agree with the comment about NWO. Flat. Just plain flat. Many of the state parks in SE Ohio - and Southern Ohio have reasonable trail systems, it just takes a bit of sleuthing to find the. The BT in Southern Ohio has some stretches that are honestly pretty challenging for east of the Mississippi. There's a pretty decent set of trails at Shawnee SP just west of Portsmouth. Also you might want to check out Wayne Nat'l Forest's trails.

Try REI's www.hikingproject.com for the hiking routes. NW Ohio is legendary for flat, Historic Great Black Swamp region and all, but I have added some trails on it. Depending on where in OH you landed the Buckeye Trail loops all the way around. North County Trail has a ton of joined trails with BT and also the American Discovery Trail runs the southern region. Ultimately, SE Ohio is prime for hiking. Wayne NF, Hocking Hills etc.

Thanks. We moved to Strongsville so we'll spend some time in CVNP, but will certainly venture south to explore! So far we have have been impressed with everything Ohio.

We're new to Cleveland as well! Just moved from Denver 1.5 months ago. Loving it so far - hopefully that love carries us through the winter. What part of The Land did you settle in?

Awesome to see some local t4r memebers

hey glad to see some local t4r guys doing some meets in my area, i’ve been searching for trails and local meets. I wasnt sure if southington offroad park was to extreme or not, glad to see you can take the runners there for some light/medium trails. Would love to do a group meet and run some trails in spring/summer. One place i just found looks pretty good, its called pheonix offroad park in wintersville OH, about an hr and 15min south from me. From strongsville it might be a 2hr trek but this place has 90 miles of trails and they just recently had extreme airborn there which is a group of ford raptors racing and doing jumps. This place has once a month riding for 4x4 trucks/suv’s and they have wknds for atv’s/dirtbikes utv’s. I think its 25$ another thing you guys might be interested in is the northeast ohio bridge tour, its a easy going day of cruising to all the covered bridges that you can drive over, i took a picture of every bridge i went through, some gravel roads and a couple dirt roads up in the conneaut area. Havent done the whole tour yet over by geauga county.

Only had 5 4Runners show, a few people had other things already arranged. But it's hard to get a big group together around the holidays with all the plans, travel, and family.
If you're on FB check out the Ohio 4Runners Group there. It's more active than this thread, although I try to cross post the events over to here.
