This might be in the wrong location but I wanted to let the forum know what I learned about Toyota's Certified Collision Repair program - they (the dealer) will guarantee the repairs for as long as you own the car AND as long as the dealer owns that particular location.
In September 2007 I had an accident within a few miles of Toyota of Roswell (Georgia) - not having any preference regarding who did the repairs (other than a Toyota shop), I had my 2004 4Runner towed to that location. The shop took a month to get my truck back to me - always blaming the insurance company appraisers for the delay (not a big deal) and I had to take it back to have something repaired that should have been caught by the body shop during the 30 days they had the truck (not life and death, but annoying).
Fast forward to October 2009 - I started to hear some very annoying metallic rattles so I had the shop that does my mechanical work look into it - turns out the two year old repair done by Toyota of Roswell was not done properly and the "rattles" are a result of misalignment of the front bumper brackets between the frame "horns" and the metal bumper. Not at all happy with the rattles and concerned that there may be other issues (frame alignment problems?), I returned to Toyota of Roswell to have the problem resolved - but the dealership had been sold after my repair was done and they deny responsibility.
As it turns out, the former owner of Toyota of Roswell owned (and still owns) Toyota South of Morrow, GA. I contacted the body shop there to find out what they would do to correct the problem - if you guessed nothing at all, you are correct! So here I am with a problem that resulted from trusting a repair shop because it was a Toyota Certified Collision Center - but that, in itself, means nothing. Toyota doesn't back this up, my insurance company will not get involved because I picked the shop and the dealer (still in business in another location) doesn't return phone calls.
Oh well, live and learn - this is the same kind of nonsense I got from GM during the 1970s - when I said goodbye to their products forever. Maybe I'll do the same to Toyota when I need another new vehicle.
