Certified Platinum Warranty

I will be bringing home a 2006 4Runner Sport on Thursday and the dealer is offering me the platinum warranty that covers "everything" for 7 years 100,000 miles. This would add $17 to my monthly payment. Is it worth it???

Has anyone had any experience with the platinum warranty good or bad?

I've only had my '07 for a bit over a week but I bought it. I felt the extended peace of mind was worth the money.

How much does he want to charge you for the Platinum coverage?

FYI, it is NOT REQUIRED that you purchase the extended warranty when you purchase the vehicle.
I purchased my extended warranty in my 35th month of onwership.

BTW, I purchased the Toyota Platinum Warranty from Shaun in the above thread.
I got the 7yr, 75K warranty for a little over $600 with sales tax. That was about $600 LESS than my local dealer.

Mine was $860 for the 7 yr/100K warranty.

When I bought my 06 4runner back in Nov 2006 it was 1 year old with 10K on it. It was Toyota Certified. Dealer offered the same warranty you are being offered; I bought it and it cost around $800. I knew the warranties could be bought from other dealers after the fact, but the dealer said that was only true of new cars, not used like I was buying. I was on the spot and didn't know if he was feeding me a line of ... . So call one of the other sources of warranties on this board and see if what I was told is true. If you do it ahead of time you will be in great shape. The warranty essentially made my warranty a bumper to bumper for 7 years, 100,000 miles from the original in service date. Good luck.

The 4Runner I am buying has 36,182 on it, so it is out of the original warranty. The only warranty I would have would be the CPO warranty 7/100 powertrain. So this might be a one time offer for me. I don't think I can buy it at a later time.
