Change F to C in 2013 T4R

Good evening,
I'm new to the forums. I just bought a 2013 Limited from the US. Being from Canada, I would prefer the Temp. display to read in Celsius. I was reading up on some old posts (2007) and they saw you can't switch it (easily anyway)

I checked with my dealer (idiots, sorry) and he tells me you can't do it.


I find this odd, my husband owns a 2007 Tundra (US model) and his has a button right on the dash.

I'm not very savy when it comes to cutting wires and such, but have friends in the know, if I have the "how to" details.

Does, anyone know a source for colour matched running boards?

On a side note. Canadian Tire wouldn't pass the RIV inspection because the DRL were able to shut off. The dealer (see idiots above) wanted to charge me for a whole new module, and harness and shit.

I fixed them, ha ha, just went to another Canadian Tire, who passed it.

What does your user manual say?

I was able to change it in my FJ.... can't be that different. I just don't remember how of the top of my head.

The manual says absolutely nothing about changing the display. :wacko:

I'm still hoping someone can give me some insight.

I don't think there is a quick and easy fix. Your best bet is to track down the instrument cluster from a 5th gen built for the Canadian market at a local junk yard (if any even exist). From what I've heard this is a known "issue" with certain Toyotas which are manufactured for certain markets.

if you wanna change F to C you need this one.

connect this to VCI port in you car (under steering wheel), run Techstream software (included in package)
Now you can change many option in you car (light control, drop the engine errors etc.) temp. of corse too (only comp, not in clima )

I couldn't find anything either... though I use metric. A lot of Canadians prefer and go by imperial rather than metric and I'm sure many Americans may use metric over imperial. Kinda weird why the 4Runner doesn't have this functionality. It is what it is.

I recall this question coming up years ago in a 4th Gen. I searched for it but got nothing. I thought they were able to switch it by changing out the actual temperature sensor in front of the rad. Again, I'm going purely on recollection. Maybe see if there are 2 different part numbers (Canadian vs American) or borrow a Canadian sensor off another T4R to try it out.

With the "mode" or "set" button beside the clock if I remember well. You have to oush one of those for a few seconds.

Tried that, mine only changes the brightness of the display. Looks like a dealer or Techstream is needed to make a simple change.
