Changed Diff Fluid, Have Vibration - Thoughts?

So I finally got around to swapping the diff oil out in my 08 V8. Shortly after this, I noticed a vibration coming through the driver side floor. I crawled back under to check the diff. I opened the diff back up and I had fluid running out of the fill plug. I filled it on the level garage floor, so not sure how this is possible. Either way, this oil was only in for a few hundred miles and is already gray. I let it drain down to the right level again. Vibration is most noticeable around 60 - 65 mph. Don't really notice any sound. Thinking of draining it and straining it to see if there is anything going on. I used Amsoil 75W-90. Any thoughts? :ybrick::dammit:

Did you do any other work on the truck, like remove a wheel?

No, I didn't. Did everything with all the tires on the ground. I'm a bit baffled.

make sure the fluid u used was compatible with your truck.

Check the tires for a spot where you may have lost a wheel weight. Take a look at the axles and front drive shaft to see if the balance weight fell off. Look for a rock in the tire tread. There are multiple things that could cause the vib and your changing the diff oil could just be a fluke in timing.

There are multiple things that could cause the vib and your changing the diff oil could just be a fluke in timing.

I was thinking this as well. Going to take it to the shop tomorrow and have the wheel balance checked. May throw my spare on to see if that helps. May have a tire issue going on as well. Michellins have been pretty solid for me so far, but you never know.

Weird... that sounds almost EXACTLY what happened to me last year. I did a fluid change on the Front, Rear, and Central Diffs and not more than 300miles later my fluid was burnt black like Texas tea, was the same Amsoil also.

My vibration was around 65~75mph though, ended up being the pinion bearing in my differential had burned up somehow. Fluid level was correct and everything.

Not saying it is, but that was what ended up being for me, same symptoms and everything.

I dug a little further into this tonight and the ONLY thing I could find was my passenger side front tire was about 5 pounds low. This seems to lessen the effect of what I have been feeling, but it is definitely still there. I'm taking it on a 600 mile trip Saturday, we'll see what happens I guess. How long did you let it go before you had it fixed or looked into?
