Hi everyone...
The Runner just hit 30K last week so I decided to get a jump on the 30K maintenance. I changed the oil (simple as usual) and the air filter (simple). I did however also buy new plugs for her too (V6). I found that changing them on the left side (facing the truck) was a piece of cake. However, 2 of the 3 on the right side were a complete PIA to get out, especially the middle one. You have to really fanagle the (excuse the lack of technical jargon) distrubutor plug out of the way due to a bracket on the engine and the fuel lines. I cut the hell out of my knuckles trying to get my hand in there. And then you need a really long extendor to put on your ratchet to get the plug out. However, it did save me some money in the long run. The plugs cost $12.change from Toyota.
All you have to do is simply remove the clip holding the wires onto the, "distributor plug," remove a small bolt holding in the plug and then replace the plug. Smooth sailing unit the right side. Most, if not all of you should be able to handle it. And, as far as I know, it will save you big bucks when it comes to the 30K service.
