Changed the Plugs

I have a 2008 V6, this vehicle really is one of the easier new vehicles I've had to change the plugs. If you're considering it but worried, it's really easy.

I suggest getting a set of locking socket extensions, I ordered these.

The only problem was the plug closest to the firewall on the driver's side, a few obvious things to get out of the way.

You'll need a 10mm 6pt socket to take the coil packs off, and a 12mm 6pt socket to remove a bracket to get to the plug closest to the firewall on the driver's side.

I used Deno SK20HR11 Iridium Long Life Spark Plugs, the gap was fine from the factory, pretty close to .042-.043.

Suggest having a nice portable light source you can clamp in to things to see the back 2 plugs and connectors on the driver's side.

The coil packs disconnect with a tiny pressure from a small flat screwdriver on the little tab, then pull them off.

I didnt use any anti-sieze goop at all, the factory ones with 31K came off very nicely. Torqued the plugs to 13ft-lbs.

Was there a reason that you changed plugs already? What was the condition of the original plugs?

Just curious,

Just doing the regularly schedule maintenance per the owner's manual at 30K for the emissions warranty. 3 of the plugs removed were NGK and 3 were Densos from the factory and they looked in good shape.

I should be set for 50K miles with these Iridiums.

Factory recommended service schedule.

I done mine at 30k and they looked fine as well. Probably go another 10-15k. I noticed it idles a bit smoother with the new plugs. I used all Densos this time around.

Exactly the same. Cheap insurance to keep a $35K vehicle running good. Not sure why they believe these plugs need changing at 30K though, mine looked very good also, could have gone at least another 10K+.

Also put in the Denso Iridiums.

I also use a top tier gasoline though and Techron treatment every 15K miles also in all my vehicles (2003 vette, 2007 Harley Dyna, and the 2008 4R)
