changing a 99' gauge cluster bulbs

i would like to change to bulbs in my 99 4runner cluster to blue LEDs. ive searched and found that the 4th gen 4runner gauge cluster is soldered on but how about the 3rd gen? im guessing 194 blubs ...has anyone on here change it to LEDs? any pics? also are there only plugs behind the cluster because when i had my mr2, i had a cable for the speedo that was a bitch to get back in. thanks

why dont you just buy the reverse glow gauges that are white when off and black and blue when on? probably be a lot easier to do.

i heard something about pulling the covers off the bulbs or switching bulbs and keeping the black cluster, im not sure how to do it, but i know that the light is blue at night

if you find out how to do it, let us know, i might be interested in doing that

allaidback did it with alot of his lights on the interior, not the cluster but the buttons in the center console and the heat and air and what not, check out some of his pics in this thread: colored gauges
