Changing dash light color?

I love my 4R. And I hate orange-colored dash lights more than anything. Well, almost as much as red :)

Is there a relatively easy way to change the color of all that orange? Are the dash parts *themselves* orange tinted, or are the lights underneath so?

I'd love to switch out to like an indigo blue/green.

Willing to have a professional do it, just wondering what the logistics are. If you have any pics of your job, I'd love to see it too!

Thanks,
BB

My favorite part is after all that work, someone says:
I went through and changed all my lighting to Blue Led's, just to find out how horrible it's to see at night. So now I'm half way through changing everything to white LED's and so far it looks great, easy to see and it's make it look luxurious. I'll try to post some pics...

So I wouldn't go blue.

That looks cool Big Brother, nice job !! I would do white if I had the courage to do what you did. Just a personal preference though.

Thought the radio would have to stay the way it is. That is quite a project.

Fo , ditto on the screwing something up. For some reason I was comfortable doing all this stuff on american vehicles , but have lost confidence on the foreign stuff.

Where do you buy such light bulbs ? I have to replace bulbs behind my onboard comp. sometimes they flicker and one side gets dim compared to the other side.

Falls- I didn't do it. That's a thread to someone else's job. I'm *looking* to do it.

Zimm- that quote is from another guy, not the OP. I think the OP did well by going with more of an Indiglo-style color. I think flat blue would be atrocious to see at night as well.

Though I don't *really* feel like picking up the debate from their own forum ;), I think the problem they didn't address was which blue...

I agree that a very specific hue of blue is nearly impossible to resolve at night. You see it sometimes on poorly-selected company and building signs when it's dark. It's a very deep blue and against a dark/black background, is extremely blurry around the edges. Our eyes definitely have problems with that specific hue.

But, you shift it just a bit, and it's fine. Look at Exxon signs or any other commonly used blue signs at night. You go a little lighter or add some green and it's fine. That's why I think that guy's dash is fine- it's much lighter in color than the "bad" blue :)

Yeah man, I would love to do it myself... but I'm afraid I would screw something up..

Yo let me know if you decide to do this mod Im down to do it to mine at the same time. I just wish the 4th Gen dashes were as easy to mess with as the 3rds.

Yeah one day I might decide to do it, but until now, I'm gonna stay away from that. However, I am going to change my dome lights, map lights, door lights, glovebox light, and mirror lights to superwhite LED's. I'm also going to get some 9inch flexible orange LED strips for the floorboard to match the dash lighting..

But yeah the the 3rd Gen was so erasy to do, I wish the 4th was the same..
