dash picture 2...

Yes.. the Hvac controls don't light up all around... the problem is that LED's focus the light into one small area.. instead of dispersing.... so I'm gonna find time to figure out how to fix that..

looks good, is the lcd easy to read, in the picture its not, but i know it is hard to photo something like that. Ive been thinking for a while about switchin mine from orange to blue, but im not sure i want to take on the job.
also im afraid I will brake something :bonk:

Yeah I had heck of a time doing this conversion... Wiring is all over... you can't just screw them in.. I have them soldered... I cut the circuit board a little to push the LED's in.... ,,,

The LCD panel is a little bit harder to read... but I can still see it.. I can't glance at it... the first picture.. that's about the visibility of it... so... I don't know yet..

Tommorow the gauges get switched over... Hope that would be much better and would look nice too...

After that.. it's steering wheel control lights.. and the shifter.. the shifter should be easy..

cant wait to see it finished, especially the guage cluster,
not sure i want to do this if it reduces the visibility tho, not sure all the work and less visibility makes up for simply looking better, then again its prolly just cause im lazy.

I've been wanting to do this for a very long time (with the white lights) but many people say its "too hard" how hard is it really? Also how hard is it to do the odometer area, i really hate the orange amber color. thx. BTW IT LOOKS GREAT!! also if its very difficlult for a beggener where can i get a write up for it?

welll I'll find out how hard it is to do the odometer area.... my previous truck.. I wasn't able to access the odometer area... but if it's like how the LCD panel is.... then it shouldn't be that bad...

When I do the gauges.. I'll do a write up about it...

Ok... so I took apart the instrument cluster...... argh!!! it's not like the center heating gauge cluster...

What I have to do.. is buy a instrument gauge cluster from another 4th gen... and work on that..... because I only have one gauge cluster....

So if anyone has seen any instrument cluster that's for sale.. let me know. I'm preferably looking for a limited gauge cluster... with the 4x4.... but if no... that's fine....

I have the sport edition 4x4....

I changed the turn signal lights to blue.. the ones that light up green.. I put two LED"s in there.. those were bulbs.. the cup holder lights are also now blue. I haven't changed the shifter yet.

So I thought I'd let everyone know..

Was the center console illuminated with 74 and 194/168 bulbs? I know the cupholder uses the 74 but I have yet to find one bright enough for that.

Looks great btw!

Is the center console all lit up with LEDs or bulbs? or a combo of both?

I would like to convert everything to a hyperwhite type look. Never attempted, because the instrument cluster is surface mount LEDs.

I think that might be a little more then I want to chew off at the moment.

Didn't someone on here convert their cluster to white/blue? I thought I remember seeing a post, that had a picture of it?

They were all Bulbs.. but they are not like the bulbs in the center console..

they have a plastic holder....

so it was kinda complicated...

do you have any pics of the inside of the center console? Like to see what's involved in replacing them.

I didn't realize that they used bulbs in there. Just assumed it was LEDs.

I remember they were similar to this.

Although some bulbs have a longer neck holding the bulb it self(the ones lighting the controls). The two bulbs lighting the info screen are similar to the one on the pic.

btw what type leds did you use... i think i saw a site that had leds with 360 degree lighting angles.

yup.. the bulbs sort of look like that with long necks...

The LED's I used are 4000 MCD's.... so they are bright.. the only thing is that they don't have the 360 degree.. I definitely would be interested in the 360 degree LED's...

Well i'm not quite sure about the size leds you used, but here's the superbrightleds.com website listing of their bulbs. 360 degree ones are available i 5 and 8 mm.. might be a bit big to fit, but i believe you cut some of the board out on your previous posts. I like your mod and might do the same to mine once i find a spare cluster.

link - http://www.superbrightleds.com/leds.htm

Hope this helps

Edit - i'm guessing the leds are quite large to the ones you used.. but i'm not sure.. maybe a wider viewing angle could help more on lighting issues.

Edit 2 - The inverted lens leds would be a good too.

That looks like the same size bulb they use for the glove box. size 64 or something like that?
