Changing from a 265/70/16 4ply to a 265/70/16 H/T 6ply

I'm looking at changing tire sizes and am wondering how the larger (than stock) tire size works and the change in mpg. (Tried to find a thread on this but could not). I currently run the stock size - open country - and was looking to change to a Highway tire in the 75 (Vs 70). Any one have any experience w/this.

its a 7% difference. I just programmed my speedo-healer so thats what it showed. I noticed about 2MPG drop and about 5mph difference at 65+.

I presume the line below should read as follows.

You'll be going up one inch just like so many do with a change from 265/65/17 to 265/70/17. Should present no problem other than making a small difference in odo and speedo. Mpg effect is mixed with but the overall effect shouldn't be much especially with a lot of highway driving. The mpg dash display will read a little closer to reality. If you don't allow for the tire change in mpg calculations, any hit to mpg will look worse than it is.

However, if you're going to use a highway tire, I'd suggest sticking with 4 ply which means sticking with P-metric instead of LT-metric for best overall performance.
