changing instrument guage light (or color)

Anyone know how hard it is to change the instrument guage backlight? I just bought a used '97 and hate the green illumination color. I'm in the process of replacing any many bulbs as possible with LEDs. I'l like to replace the backlight with a blue LED cluster.

I've got a friend that is suppose to come over tomorrow actually and change my gauge bulbs out and replace them with blue LED's. I can watch him, and take some pics and let you know.

cool, let me know how it goes. I just installed my Eclipse head unit which glows blue. I'd like it all to match.

Green glow is dim and horrible in my 97.
Especially now with the new head unit lighting up nice and bright

yo bmplaya - i want to change my who dash from orange to blue on my 04 sr5. once you get the dash off, is it pretty easy to find and replace the bulbs? which bulbs did you use to replace the guage lights with?

Looks really good! looking to do something like that on my 96 sr5. What bulbs did you use? i can see it has some hot spots like on the 2 on the RPM gauge. Is that avoidable at all?

dash lights on my '10 tacoma. the led's are super tiny and have to be soldered on, im pretty sure they are the same on the 4th gen 4runners.

for the needles I had to scrape off the orange and repaint them with some white fingernail polish. I think there was around 20 leds I had to replace.

Finally got mine done:

that s how mine looks. see the 2 and 80, 90, 100, how brighter they are compared to the rest of the cluster? what is the fix for that? with the factory bulbs, the illumination spread is uniform but not with these.
