Changing Rim size

Is it at all possible to change from a 17" rim to a 16" rim on a 04 4Runner? Its just really hard to find tire sizes at the price i want so i was thinking about going to a smaller (or larger) rim.

No, you can't go down in wheel size on a Sport. The brakes are bigger so the wheel needs to be at least 17".
