Changing speakers, keeping HU?

Well what i have is the 03 4runner limited with the 10 speakers jbl system and 6 disk changer, as well as a pro installed sirius radio.

My question is, is it possible to change all the speakers in the car including adding an amplified sub to the back without changing my headunit, I really like the stock look of OE stuff.

I ask this because my grandfather has a corvette and you cant change anyting in it.

I might have to amplify the speakers, im not sure though because i dont know how much juice the stock HU puts out...Please Help me!

You can change any speaker but using to oem H/U is not going to sound any better w/o adding a amp. The factory setup is just for only what the oem spealers are rated (can handle) . So if you are going to replace them better off to use a amp. Remember that the oem set does have a amp already and that's where the power is coming from in pushing the oem speakers not realy the H/U. If you're going to do all this work have it done by a pro, too many hackers out there, hate to see a nice truck w/shitty sound.
Unless you are able to do it yourself but I assume not, I figure if you can you may save money on the install. Also it might not be a bad idea to get your system ipod ready seeing that your thinking to upgrade. ........Peace.........

I totally have the knowlendge...Its just the i got this truck a couple weeks ago and i dont wanna start taking things apart without a game plan.

How is the factory amp ran, just like a reg amp with ground/hot wire/remote/and rca's/and how many channels and all that.

It would really be awsome if i could rip that old amp out and maybe put some 4 guage wire in and put a better amp in. (although i have a suspicion that its all wired through a harness, if so would it be alright to just figure out all the wires and just use those, or would that mess with the HU)

Thanx

I would run new set of wires for everything, oem is not going to cut it on high power amps/speakers. But keep oem HU and old wires alone just run new ones to amp and speakers if in case you decide to sell it, it's easier to reconnect oem wires back to oem speakers again. DON'T cut oem wires just dissconnect them. I'm glad to see your willing to put together a game plan take your time do it rigth. Doing along will take some time ......peace.....

okay well is there a remote lead and rca outputs on the back on the HU...and is there a step-by-step on how to take apart everything i need to take apart to run new wires...so i dont mess up any clips or anything just tuggin on panels...

If not how do i get RCA's...i know they have those ones that you hook to speaker wires but they seem kinda cheap and not very good for SQ

That info and ill be ready to rock and roll...thanks
