Changing the shocks and struts

I have not had my 97 4 Runner to awful long, but I have noticed that the truck rocks from the left front to the right rear when hitting rough roads. I believe that my issue is aligned with the age of the shocks and struts and it is my plan to change them. I am curious, as to what brands many have used and what they think of the shocks and struts after their install. My intention is to keep the truck close to the factory lift, and go with something like a Bilstein 5100 series suspension components. Most of you on this site, appear to have lifted your 4 Runners, and I have no issue with that, but my needs are a daily work vehicle to the plant and back, with interactions with snow, deer, country Bubbas, and the occasional texter in a mini-stupid car. I have also debated about the extra cash investment in new springs all around the vehicle, since it does have 210,000 miles on it. Any thoughts?

Do it, it'll feel a lot better. As for lift, whatever floats your boat. You'll get used to any lift since it's not like you have to throw yourself into the seat. I'm lifted 3" and everyone thinks it's at stock height.

I would check your front/rear sway bar/end link bushings first if you're getting a lot of roll. They're most likely roached. If you want the truck stock setting with the nicest ride, replace all the suspension with OEM shocks and springs. The rear shocks can be a whole lotta no fun if they don't break easily for removal.

That is why I have a lot of demolition style tools. Even a blue blaze wrench for bad rusty items.
