Back in my BMW days, I installed a cheap $30 keyless entry system into my '87 535i in about 15 minutes with no electrical knowledge at all. The car already had automatic locks, which is what made this such an easy install. Here is the write up I used: Keyless Entry
I just bought a 1998 4Runner that does not have keyless entry. I desperately want it, and would love to install a cheap and easy system. I am not looking for an alarm or for the back window to roll down, I just want a simple lock and unlock function within 10-20 feet of the vehicle. I figure, since the 4Runner already has automatic locks, it should be relatively simple to splice into the system with a remote system. That said, has anybody made a diagram similar to the link above or can they create something similar for the 3rd Gen 4Runner?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
