I can come up with the money in secret but when she is driving in the Runner she will likely be tipped off to the change especially since she spend some time learning the AVN5435 functions and if that doesn't do it its a double din. You better grab it now because you will not get this kind of deal very often. Just hit the Casino to get the $$

Another area of contention is that I want the 2DIN to cover the entire space because I have the '05. I think Eclipse made a stupid decision by making the AVN 7000 1DIN. It is funny too because the AVN 7000 can utilize the 5.1 ch. processor but the 2DIN AVN 5495 doesn't! WTF??!! Man, it doesn't make any sense! Why must it always be a compromise?? You know I guess that must be the most singular reason I haven't bought the damn thing- I want it in 2DIN!

I think that's just marketing because, although changing, the majority of cars on the road still have only 1Din and you can always fit the 1Din into a 2Din location with an adapter but not the other way around. This giving Eclipse a larger customer base for the AVN7000.
The other advantage I see is security because the AVN7000, with its screen put away, doesn't look as tempting to a thief.

that is amazingly cheap. i bought my AVN7000 two days after I got my 4runner. I absolutely love it. go for it if you like it. You cant beat that price. I paid 3200 for the unit, ipod control interface, installation and a 4 year extended warranty.

It also has a built in security feature that will not allow you to use it without inputting the security code from the memory chip when the car looses power. So its pretty useless to thieves if its stollen.Spider5 said:
The feature is actually somewhat useless. Any authorized Eclipse dealer can unlock the unit. I had a CDA- I believe it was a 9855 and I removed it to sell it and locked it up. I have lost the thing to reset it and had to pay the car stereo guy like 15 dollars but he unlocked it. Any thief could do the same. Otherwise, if you think about it, if you lose the reset tool (whatever it may be, cd or otherwise) it can become useless. Eclipse has to have a way to protect idiots like myself from themselves.Spider5 said:

IMHO this makes the system not somewhat but completely useless and they should not have bothered. I would have liked a system that would be a paperweight if you lose the reset tool. This would be the only way to make it worthwhile and if you lose it bummer buy another system.

Eclipse has provided a 1-800 number in the event this happens and i believe the system can be reset remotely if the owner mailed in the registration information. I called the number once to ask about changing screen images but forgot to ask about the remote resetting but I do believe its possible. Kind of like northstar.tomhaney1 said:
