Cheap Lowe's Cargo Mat

I bought a 3'x5' mat at lowes it was $13 called Dur-A-Bull. The mat has a rubber back and ribbed carpet on the top. I cut it to fit and then put some adhesive Velcro "hook" strips on the back to keep it in place, even when my 125lbs dog jumps on the mat it does not go anywhere. It can easily be removed and cleaned since it is only held down by velcro and the slider still works!

That looks pretty good. I did something similar with a mat that's supposed to be under a rug that keeps it from sliding. The top is a rough carpet material and the bottom is rubber. I chose to cut slits in it to fit the toyota cargo spider net. I also chose to cut it longer to cover the handles and latch. I don't want them getting scuffed up with my dog's nails.

I'm actually really disappointed with Toyota on the materials they chose for the rear cargo area. It seems like the plastic scuffs easily. However, I must give them credit for making the car solid, I have nearly 5k miles on mine and I have no rattles or squeeks at whatsoever.

Great fix! Does the mat extending all the way to the back seat prevent items from falling into the middle when extended? I love the slide out tray but it's a little annoying when you pull it out and everything falls down into the gap. Your solution looks like it may be a good fix for pulling the items from the very rear forward and returning with the tray.

The mat covers the entire area when the slider is stowed, but if you extend it there will still be a gap. I wish there were a better solution, but this is the best i can think of.
