Cheap Paint Job - MAACO thoughts?

I would try having the car detailed first. A good detailer can polish out a lot of scratches. I would stay away from any of the cheapo paint places. In my experience, they make a shitty paint job look even worse.

You cannot polish out clear coat failure. If you get the hood or the whole truck painted be sure to sand all the failing clear coat yourself before you go to Maaco.

A year ago I took the '89 to the Glen Allen (Richmond ) Maaco location. I had done lots of body work and sanded it to 400 grit. Make sure you at least get all the wax off the vehicle. I took the bumpers, grill, lights, mirrors, soft top and anything I could off in their parking lot. I had the old white changed to Toyota super white 040. I had them paint the cowl, lower valance, and gas door separately. I got the mid range paint with the clear coat mixed in for about $700. There was no overspray and I'm very happy with the job they did.
