Check Engine & VSC Lights Come on; now off

The check engine light and both VSC lights come on my dash last week. Then, after three days, all of the lights have mysteriously left as they came on.

So now I'm sitting here wondering.....was there a glitch in the systme or is there something really wrong with the system?

I know these things can't fix themselves.

Thoughts? Do I need to go to the dealership anyways or just a good mechanic?

Hello,

It *could* be related to a leaky Gas Cap. A fellow Toyota Highlander owner was charged $110 for the fix, $90 for the diagnostics, and $20 for a Gas Cap Gasket.

If there is any OBDII code, VSC is diabled according to TMC Tech.

Thanks for the post. I guess it could be the gas cap. Its been a week and it drives fine. I'd had to spend $200 on something as simple as that.:bash:

Whenever the CEL comes on the VSC is automatically turned off by the computer.

The majority of on and off faults of the CEL is the gas cap. Take a moment and make sure that the gas cap and the filler neck are clean. Make sure you get a few clicks when you tighten the gas cap.

The CEL & VSC Lghts came on a few days ago and I 'm sure glad I found this Forum after a Google on the internet. After reading the other posts, I started thinking that the lights had suddenly come on several miles down the road after I had filled up at a service station. I went out and re-tightened the gas cap until I heard it click. Sure enough, the lights were all off after a re-start.

Thanks a million, as I was contemplating taking the vehicle to a dealer tomorrow.
