Check Engine + VSC OFF + VSC Traction lights all came on?!

The wife left the truck parked & idling for 3 to 4 minutes, and when she returned all 3 idiot lights were on. She saw nothing was leaking or overheating, so she drove it home. I checked everything over and couldn't find anything out of place, so I disconnected the battery and the lights reset themselves. They stayed off throughout a test drive, and while I'm not really too concerned, I am curious as to what caused it. Any one ever experience this?

the first thing to check is the gas cap as it can set all lights off

second thing i know is a bad o2 sensor on the cat

but thats all i know

i had it come on for me too and it was my gas cap (which i thought i tightened)

i tighten the hell out of it everytime i fill up.

I checked it, and while it was tight, I was able to give it maybe an 1/8 of a turn before it started clicking. The lights stayed on, so I went ahead and disconnected the battery to clear them. They're staying off now. All auto problems should be this easy.

get the code pulled at autozone next time...

check engine lights are dummy lights.. they can be tripped very easily and are usually not serious.

my guess is... the MAF as always

Thanks Lee, I'll clean the MAF this weekend. The web is awsome - I Googled it to see if I should Electronic cleaner or something stronger like Brake Kleen, and came across this

Well, all these lights coming on JUST happened to me 2 days ago. I also smelled something funny coming into the cab as I was driving and within 30 seconds, the shift into O/D was VERY delayed and not near as smooth as it had been. I slowed to 30MPH, turned on my emergency flashers, and drove the 1.5 miles to the Toyota dealership. They just told me this evening that the pan was full of metal shavings and that a new transmission is $6k and a used transmission (42k miles) is $3k installed and out the door. So, I'm going for used with a 1 year parts and labor warranty and HOPING that nothing else will go wrong with what was supposed to be the most dependable SUV on the road. It's supposed to be ready Friday at lunch. For now, they're paying for a Scion xB rental so that I can get to work and back.

check engine light VSC off, etc.

Go to auto parts store and try a new gas cap for $15-$20, disconnect battery to delete lights and will probably be good to go, if not probably need some other service at the Toyota garage.
