Check For JBL Head Unit

I am sorry if this has been already asked and answered. I did a several search, but was not able to find the answer to my question. I have 2007 SR5 with single CD slot that plays disc, mp3 etc....

I would like to know if I have a JBL sound system preinstalled in it. What is the easiest way to check that out. OEM website says to look for the JBL logo in the HU, but I don't think I have that or may be I don't know what I should be looking at.

I am thinking about going with the OEM head unit. But just want to make sure that it can be installed in my 4runner.

If you have the non-JBL, you can't upgrade to a JBL. Don't know about a navigation system, but those are expensive. A Scion HU is a good, cheap upgrade. Check on eBay, I got mine for $40 shipped.

07? look on your window sticker that came with the car - will say 10 speaker JBL Premium System. If it doesn't say JBL on the face then its the std system which is like 6 speakers

Look for a yellow JBL painted emblem upper right corner of the HU. Also look for the subwoofer and amp behind passenger rear quarter trim. If you have the mirrors in the rear cargo area you dont have the JBL system as they would be speakers instead. You can put the system in but you will need to buy the lower passenger rear quarter trim for JBL system + all components (HU, sub & amp, speakers, and wiring harnesses). So far toyota has acted clueless about buying the wiring, so its either off to the junk yard or build your own! Good luck.

Frank, don't worry. Your stock system is easier to upgrade to aftermarket than JBL. Just get new headunit.

JBL ISSUES - NOT EASY UPGRADE

Okay, this may be off base re: the original post but.... I called Toyota direct to find out how I can upgrade my low level stereo unit in my 2006 Sport Edition... They said it would be astronomical to do so. Last summer I had an Eclipse put in as well as an equalizer - it sounded terrible. I had the old head unit put back in!! Does anyone agree that the 10 speaker system sounds as it does because of the center speaker in the dash? Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get that amazing JBL 10 speaker system sound? I am willing to spend a good amout of money on this.

Something HAS to be wrong with the equalizer. Buy a 4-channel amp, two sets of MB Quart [6.5"] separates and maybe a 10 inch sub and amp and you will blow away the JBL!
