With the deck plate "hole in the air box" mod, I frequently find little bones and pieces of fur in my air box out here in the plains of Wyoming. Mice and rabbits get in there at night. At least they haven't chewed through the wires in my engine bay like they did to my brothers car

So, what's the resolution? Does it seem structurally integral, meaning a more supportive plastic weld over or similar, or would a few coats of a flexible caulk do the trick to seal it up?

Since this is on the post-filtered intake side, it's probably a good idea to patch it up. Otherwise, our filter boxes aren't at all water tight, so if it were pre-filter side and not structurally important, I'd just leave it be.

Very interesting OP, I wonder how common this is- I found mine was cracked in the exact same spot a couple months ago when I went to clean my MAF. sealed 'er up with gorilla glue. Easy fix, but kinda concerned how much dust has been sucked into the intake manifold for who knows how long.

Well this post got.... interesting.....
My solution to get me back out in the Mojave was to take some JB Kwik Weld I keep in the truck and patch it up. I honestly doubt it will hold as the JB weld dries rigid and the solution is probably going to be useing something flexible. My buddy used some grey RTV on his and it seems to be holding. I just got back into town, so I've got the week to check it out and see if something else needs to be done. Got to get her ready for another trip next weekend!
As far as future posts, I'll be keeping my short chubby fingers out of all future pics. :wow:

I have used automotive Goop on all plastics in cars and boats with excellent results. You could also used Gorilla Glue, let it dry, sand and paint....

Yeah I used some rtv to seal up a crack in an EVAP canister with good results. I'm sure it would work here too. Won't be pretty looking I'd imagine.
Jimi loves being in pics — he's kinda weird...
