Chilitown for Perseid Meteor Shower Aug 12th

Meant the 26th. heh.
What does the area look like? I was thinking of heading out somewhere to take some night photos of the shower. As long as there are some rad big rocks I can make it work. It won't be like the photo below but I love doing it! And if you're interested in learning bring your DSLR. Would we be meeting up somewhere before we head out?

Check the last 5 or 10 pages on this thread for pics and that's where we'll be out around. The campground is all open with not too much immediate rock formations, but I'm sure you could find something if you really wanted to. There will be a handful of us playing with our DSLRs and at least one telescope with DSLR attachment capabilities I believe. You can either meet up or I can give you the coordinates to the camp. I'm planning on getting to camp by 4 or 5ish so I have enough light to set up the tent and whatnot.

He might be okay with Pinkham in the man van since it's mostly just loose sand. Berdoo I think would pose a problem. Depending on time/traffic I might just go straight there on the 62 and then take Old Dale to Berdoo back out.

I was just going to say Berdo out would be fun too! Last time I took Berdo in I got stuck at the water fall trying to get up it. :first:

Yah it's a long exposure. For that one I did two. One for the sky and one for the landscape. Sky takes about 30 secs or less. I think the landscape was close to a 2 min exposure, I forget off the top of my head.
with a micro it'll add significant amount of grain to the image, but it's always worth a shot to try it out. I'm always surprised at what these new cameras can do. I'm shooting on a full frame dslr so I can pick up quite a bit of light with the sensor. The other important thing is the lens the wider aperture the lens has the more light (data) you can gather to edit with.

Probably going to be cooler fishing, haha. I'd head up north for the meteor shower but that's just too long of a drive.

Well I went and did you a solid and went solo out to Chilitown yesterday evening got to Gold Crown off 62 around 4:30 pm and hit the trail got back to hwy 62 at 7pm
Checked out the status of the roads and trails after the current monsoon storms we had..
All in all no to shabby..a few washouts and some deteriorated trail edges and exposed rock...just made it all that more interesting and fun.
Fire pit is still standing tall and some pieces of wood still there
Got video will get it up later today

As always, thank you sir. You're never going to get all that dust out of the cracks. I think I'm still finding dust from our Red Jeep Canyon run and that was almost a year ago.
