Does anyone know of a company producing performance chips for the 4th gen 4.7 liter V8? I seem to be having trouble stirring one up. Any help is appreciated, as well a links, if you guys have them!

Waste of time/money.

Search for Outrunnr or something like that - he got 30HP at wheels with intake, exhaust, and some chip allowing him to lean the AF ratio.

Not trying to burst your bubble, White4runner, but I would not suggest going down that path. I know that doesn't answer your question, but it doesn't seem as though many here or on other forums have had much success with chips on their 4Runners, regardless of having a V8 or V6. In general, chips and computers seem to be much more beneficial for Diesel engines, as they come substantially detuned from the factory. What that does tell me, however, is that our trucks are well tuned and engineered right from the Toyota factory.

The 4.7L V8 engines in our 4Runners with VVT-i are quite powerful and efficient for their size. My '07 4Runner with a 4.7L V8 makes about 30 more HP and about 40 more ft lbs of torque than my old Jeep GC with the exact size engine. Unfortunately I don't think you can squeeze much more performance out of these engines without significantly decreasing their life.

Your best bet might be doing intake and exhaust if you don't mind the noise. I have a Volant CAI on my 4Runner that I like a lot. It is quiet at idle and under light acceleration, but you can hear it growl when I give it some gas. It increased my MPG's slightly, gave me a few more ponies and increased throttle response. It's not an earth-shattering improvement but worth the money I spent IMO.

Sorry if that is not helpful, but I figured I would try to save you some time and money. Best of luck.

Most bolt on or easy adds will give you little to no gains, if they do it will probably be at wide open throttle. Manufactures spend $$$$$ to get the most out of their motors while keeping them reliable and within emission parameters.

The engine is a pump. It only sucks in the air it needs, the computer adjusts for the correct fuel amount needed, combustion happens, and then gases get pushed out. Unless the intake is restrictive or the exhaust won't let the gasses flow out there is not much you can do without either super or turbo charging or going into the motor and changing cams, or whatever.

bolt on's in conjunction with a proper piggyback or stand alone engine management system can provide substantial gains without hurting the engines durability or longevity. However, I wouldn't call these "chips". And I wouldn't use anything on any car that's sold as a chip. I've been digging around trying to find a suitable piggyback to do some a/f and ignition tuning for my v8 but haven't had much luck. If anyone knows anything let me know. I know there are some guys running twin turbo 2uz-fe's in supras but I'm not sure what they're running for engine management.

You will see some improvement in performance and fuel-economy if you will just keep the load in your T4R as light as possible.

Most of us carry WAY too much junk. I know I do, and use the excuse of "I might need some of this" as my reason.

Good luck
