Chipped Paint on lip below door

My white 04 4Runner is only a few weeks old, but yesterday I noticed several chips in the paint on that angular rail below the driver door. When I first got the truck, I knew that area would easially chip because of the sharp angle, so I've been very careful not to even touch it when getting inside. The chips I found yesterday are about 1.5 inches long, and follow the edge of that rail.

What would be the best way to touchup these chips? Is it possible to make the repair undetectable using a touchup kit? Finally, is there some sort of 3rd party plastic covering, or something that could clip onto that section to prevent it from further bangs? If I have chips on that sucker after a few weeks, I'd hate to see what it will look like in a couple years.

Here are some pics. I probably caused the chip by scraping the back of my foot across the lip. I sure thought I was being careful, but I managed to scrape it up. The lower piece is made of plastic so rust is not an issue, but I want to get that chip touched up. It would also be great if there was some sort of protective product that could be placed over that lip to help keep the paint on it.

Are they really chips, or just rubber or plastic material smeared over the paint? (sort of like if you've ever had your car hit by a spinning frisbee). It seems weird that it would chip that easily if it's really a chip. I thought the primer would be more gray than shown in your photos.

If its not a chip, try some polish like Griot's fine hand polish.

There is some 3m clear protective plastic that might help reduce chips (also available at Griots )

They're chips for sure. There's no question about it when looking at it in person. You can see and feel the cracked edge of the paint. If I was so inclined, I could likely scrape off even more paint with my fingernail by prying up on it.

I guess I'll contact the dealer to see what they can do. I don't think the chip below the door is something I could seamlessly touch up.
