chirping noise from front

The weather finally warmed up so I was driving around with the windows down and that's when I noticed a chirping sound coming from the front. It doesn't seem to be from the engine, more from the axles, wheel area and gets faster/slower depending on the speed. In line with the wheels turning. Any guesses? I've only owned this 2012 LE for a couple weeks. I may have to take it into the stealership to have them check I out but who knows how much that will cost.

Location of annoying sounds

I think that this has been identified in a thread with the solution. I can't recall the name of the thread, but it references a driver side dash noise. On mine and others, it is the plastic clips that secure the engine flaps on the driver side wheel well. I had temporarily fixed mine, but it has returned. Thicker double side tape is going to be used to stop the movement of the clip which is causing this sound.

The front and rear clips on the rear flap behind the coil over is the problem and source. Hopefully this will resolve your chirp.

Engine flaps?? I have no idea what those are. The sounds is not coming from the dash, its something in the drivetrain i think. The chirping/squeeking noise speed is in line with the wheel speed.

I'm thinking now its the brakes?? The chirping noise stops when i hit the brakes.

Does it only do it when the wheels are turned all the way in one direction? If so it could be the plastic caps on the steering stops are gone. A bad CV joint is also a possibility, but they usually clunk too.

No its constant. Straight and turning. If it is brake pads, how much are factory replacement pads to do it yourself? I'm at the dealership now and having them take a look at it. Hoping its nothing major or of it is, that its covered under the power train because that's all I have left.

Cheap fix is add an xtra clip on those front calipers , can get a kit from napa !

Well I found out what the problem was. The front pads were worn down to 3/32 and the rotors were rusted.

I did not think it was the brakes because when I purchased the car from the Lexus dealership, they showed me the service report stating that the front pads were down to 4/32 and pulsating. As part of the Maryland vehicle inspection, they said they replaced the front pads and machined the rotors.

Now when I first test drove it, I noticed that the brakes felt soft and I really had to get on it. But I was also coming from a sedan so I thought maybe the 4runner being heavier just had mushier brakes. Plus they said the brakes were done according to the service report. So everything should be good.

I have driven the vehicle 1600 miles since I bought it. There is no way in hell that new pads could be worn down in that amount of time/miles.

So now I'm out $235 and needless to say, I was very upset when I found out about the brakes. I bought the car in Maryland and I'm in TN so that is the reason why i didn't take the car back to the original dealer.

I spoke with the sales person and she said she is going to speak with the manager and see what they can do. I should hear back from them tomorrow...

Ya the so called Toy certified bs ! I was lucky n that I knew Used Mngr so I talked to him about all that shit ,fronts were 50% backs 70% & dust was horrible specially on my black wheels . Sucks dude

the dealer is going to reimburse me for the cost of the repairs! Feeling better.
