Chirping Noise That Stops When Clutch Is Depressed

So I've got a 96 5speed v6 with 125K on it and there's a constant chirping noise when the engine is running that only stops when the clutch is pressed in. As soon as the clutch pedal is pressed, the chirping noise stops. It is a subtle chirp, but definitely noticeable. Is this normal? Any suggestions. Thanks for the help. I've owned the vehicle for almost one year and its been there since I bought it, has not gotten any worse.

My guess would be that your throw out bearing is going.....

thanks for the input, I'll have to get it into my mechanic. How serious is this? does it have anything to do with the clutch. should i wait til it gets worse, or take care of it now?

it's not a very serious problem, it could get expensive to take off the tranny to replace the bearing. If you decide to replace it, you might as well do the clutch while it's apart. I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets very loud.
