New to this forum and actually dont even have a toyota at moment. I am stuck on either a T100 or 4 runner. need something more reliable than my 76 FJ40. and to have something that can drive on the free way faster than 60 mph.

are there good links that could help me on which year 4 runner is good. I am on a list for a 2000 with an e-locker. are there better years to look for.

anyway I must say Forums are surely a love hate. there great for spending your money on mods adn such and great for learning about your vehicle. (the hate is lack of $ lol)

thought some one would have something to say after 40 looksies

anyway, was also curious on the difference of when you buy a rig with a tow package and NOT having the tow package. what would i be missing if I found a cool 4 runner that doesn't have a tow package, but does have an e-locker. just wondering

Nope, 2000 is pretty much the best year of 3rd gen 4runner (in my opinion). With a 2000, you have all of the 99+ mid gen upgrades (center console cupholders, different A/C controls, clock moved, limited flares on sport/highlander package, etc..) and it was the last year of the 5-speed and e-lockers. Some may say the 99 is better because of the tall springs, but if you intend to lift, who cares what springs it had from the factory? If you can find a Nice 2000 with low miles, I'd say take it for sure.

Btw, do you have any pics of the FJ40? I do enjoy those.
