Christening voyage

Broke the new 4runner in today with a family trip up to Yankee Boy Basin (outside Ouray). Handled it like a champ. However, I did get sidetracked and ended up going the trail to Governors Basin, which had a few fairly hairy parts to it. I turned around after I got through the hardest part (which I had no idea of knowing at the time), because I couldn't take the screaming anymore (wife and eldest daughter). Youngest daughter took it like a trooper, though. 4Runner is fine, only a slight ding in the passenger side running board. Damn running boards! Wish I could just dump them. Anyway, I'm pretty impressed with what the stock 4Runner can handle. Can't wait to get a lift and some better tires on it! Sorry, no pics. The camerawoman was verging on hysteria, and I didn't have a spare hand to snap a few off.

Sounds like fun, wherever "Ouray" and Yankee Boy Basin is.:) In any case, unless the screaming wife continues to scream, it's 3 or 4 bolts under each running board and they are gone!

Ouray is in Colorado. If you want to see some interesting 4WD videos, go to youtube and look up Engineer Pass, Imogene Pass, or Black Bear Pass. All are in that area.

Did the Imogen Pass trail run last year from Ouray to Telluride . . . spent the whole time checking out the terrain wishing I was driving over it in my 4Runner rather than running. An interesting run but an awesome 4wd road . . .

Congrats on running that bad boy, it's not an easy race. Coming up this weekend, as a matter of fact.
