Anyone thinking of doing it? Too risky to get ticketed? too tacky? I'm thinking about it especially given the trunk outlet, running some x-mas leds on the roofrack...gf is excited to do it, guy friends think I need to check my pants...but then again, shes the one who knows whats in them...anyways just wondering if someone's done it yet or thinking of doing it too.

considering you would only turn them on at night i dont think it will be to bad for the car or battery. it may not go over so well with the highway patrol tho. red lights on top of a car at night may not make them to happy. i donno, go into your local police dept and ask them. or if you know a buddy who is a cop give him a call. ill ask my buddy who is a highway patrolmen here in cali what he thinks.

what color were you thinking?

thinking about a string of those white or clear leds...its like 5 bucks for a string of them...thinking of just doing the roofrack, it probably would be cheesy but who cares in a way....its that time of year. talking to my local police as i type, the officer isn't sure but is looking into it - thinks its a funny idea and said if it was him he wouldn't ticket me...just checking with his chief though.

if you lived in vancouver i'd give you a couple hundred feet of those lights for free lol.

go ahead and give it a shot, maybe a santa sleigh with some reindeer on the roof might get the cops to go easier

It's worth the ticket. I put a battery-powered wreath on the grill of my wife's PT Cruiser last year, and a big red bow on the back hatch. With the 100W A/C plug and my Perkins roof rack, I'm going to enjoy putting lights on the 4Runner too this year.

Hmmm, maybe a Christmas "tree" like they do on boat masts.

This is fom last years Festivities....people use to pull along side and beep, and give me a thumbs up, and I never got stopped by the Po-Po.

I know a few guys with Tacoma's would put lights in the bed since those inverter plug outlets are in the bed instead of inside the cab.

TitanPat, that looks pretty good. You gonna put the lights up again this year?

By the letter of the law it is illegal but probably only the traffic Nazis in Cali would ticket ya'.
People do get ticketed for those blue windshield sprayer LEDs so be aware.

Hell yea Bro!!!

Might even go LED's to cut down on the wattage and then double the lights. I used velco straps to connect them to the rack, and double checked they don't blow around and scratch the roof.

Wow, that's awesome! props to the remote controlled Jeep.

oh man that video was hilarious. I would totally love to drive that around for a couple days and get some laughs. But I would only drive it if i could blast that song from the stereo hahaha. imagine how much fun you would have EVERYWHERE lol

Sadly, the wife insists on it being able to fit into the garage, so no tree or sleigh or reindeer or grinch...

Merry Christmas!
