Chrome belt molding trim removal

Hi all,

My 2011 T4R SR5 has chrome trim on the belt moldings below the door windows. I have found that these come from the factory with chrome but it looks like the belt moldings just have a chrome strip glued on top of them. Has anyone had experience removing these before? I've started on them with some fishing line but haven't got very far yet.

It's the piece directly below the door glass. I've always known this piece as a belt molding.

Why not plasti dip them?

I've thought about that and black vinyl but if they're just trim that will come off without I'd rather go that route. I don't have much experience with masking and painting and I know when you take off belt moldings they usually have to be replaced.

They are held in place by plastic clips behind the rocker- fishing line aint gonna do nuthin! lol

If you want to take them off you need to remove the entire rocker panel to get to them (easy) but it will leave lots of rectangular holes in the panel.

I cut the hell out mine and I like the way they look now- even left the chrome strip...

It's part# 7571235010. #1 in the schematic. Mine has a chrome trim on it that might even be aftermarket but it's hard to tell. I replaced all 4 of mine (limited) to the black ones. It’s pita to take off without damaging them. But if your replacing like me, they slide/wiggle off.

Does anyone know how to change the inside belt moldings? I changed my outside ones about 7 months ago but the inside ones are now leaving smears and squealing every time you roll the window down now.
