My chrome grill is the only part of my 4runner that I don't like, how hard is it to get it changed to color keyed? I was going to stop my the dealership today but didn't get time. Can the dealership match the paint and would it be cheaper to try and get someone else to do it or do it yourself? Has anyone else painted over their chrome grill?

I was also thinking of painting mine...but I don't think the paint will adhere to the chrome. Plus...you have to mask SO MUCH of the rubber gasket.

I don't know what exactly you are looking to do, but you most certainly can paint it...I did. Front grill and back piece w/ the logo. I went w/ flat black but any body shop could mix you up some paint. Just sand down the chrome, wipe off with a wet cloth and go to town...then throw a few coats of clear, whatever you want, flat, satin, gloss and reinstall. On mine i just did the center piece, but no reason you can do the whole thing. I like flat black so my rig is almost relieved of all it's chrome. I didn't paint the wheels...had those powder coated for more durability.
Here's some pics of mine...3 coats of paint and two of flat clear. If it chips or whatever...easy to pull off and reshoot or just touch up.
And NO that's not bird poo on the driveway it's mud from my 4runner...I use the heck out of it the way it was intended. I have the tires...hoping for a lift this month for my bday, but wife doesn't really "get it."

montana, you should just put those pics in Microsoft Paint and white/black/blue/etc out those plates instead of putting (nice job by the way) cloth over them each time you want to take a pic.
