Chuck Patterson Chico, CA

I'm posting this thread in the hopes that a manager from Chuck Patterson Toyota reads this and amends their practices or that anyone who is thinking of going there to buy a car DOESN'T. Or even better, they go out of business.

I buy parts from Patterson for my rig, and every time I've gone in to the parts department, I've had to check the computer drawings myself because the parts employees are that inept (minus one younger gentleman). Despite checking the parts, I've had pieces come in the wrong color, and the wrong year despite me telling them what to get!

The other night I raced over to the dealership to pick up a lugnut replacement (Les Schwab busted a stud off my rig rotating tires and then put on a lug that was too short!- all after insisting that i didn't need more than 5 studs on my rig for a weekend of offroading), and when I arrived at the stealership at 5:29p (they close at 5:30), they had already cleared out their registers, logged off, turned all the lights off AND caged the parts center! Amazing!

Here's the kicker for this dealership- I just called them in the hopes of stopping by and picking up a replacement clip for a trim piece (I'm in the process of taking photos of sound deadening the rear of my 4runner- thread soon), and I'm told that they're not open on the weekends AT ALL. A parts department that has NO hours on Saturday or Sunday. I was floored. I asked to speak to a manager, the guy picked up, I stated my name, and he hung up on me. Awesome.

Here's to hoping the building burns down in off-hours. Cheers!

Are you providing them with part descriptions or part numbers? All businesses these days have strict cost containment procedures. If they close at 5:30 the employees need to be heading home shortly there after. I personally would not expect any service at a dealership with one minute to close.

While your certainly entitled to post your feelings...I don't agree with the entire content of your post. Chico is a small town, and there are many businesses that "roll up the sidewalks" early. Not including of course the bars and eating establishments that cater to the college students.

If they close at 5:30 I expect them to go home shortly thereafter as well. What I don't expect is for them to be gone before. Even if they were to leave at 5:30, it means that the registers and computer systems are off long before, meaning their hours of operation as they apply to customers is NOT until 5:30. For them to have already locked everything down as well means they weren't able to serve customers until even close to 5:30. I also think that not being open on a weekend severely limits the activities of a weekend wrencher's ability to get parts for his 'yota. Poor service. Too bad Redding is so far away- their dealership is open Saturdays...

I disagree that the size of a town will dictate the service that you get one way or the other. I've gotten great service from locals because they're interested in helping others and they're small-town folk, and I've seen corporations not care about the individual in a city because they're big-time. I've also seen a small-town business treat others like garbage because they're the only show in town (not necessarily Chico, but Patterson comes to mind).

For what it's worth, the population estimate for Chico is around 90,000 people. Not too small...

Chico State Alumni here! And I have a lot of experience with part department types too. Many are very short and borderline rude. I do not think Paterson's is much different. When I go to a place of business and I find anyone with a crappy attitude....I chalk it up to them not happy with their current employment. I will often ask them if they are okay....I do this in a concerning voice and they usually check themselves pretty quick and become much more pleasant.

I cannot believe a manager hung up on you. Did you kinda go ape $hit when they closed at 5:29? lol. I would have said something too. Some people need to work until 5 and then they sometimes they need to buy parts. They should have helped you and I bet you could get a hold of the owner and he will raise some hell after the manager hung up on you.

LOL- borderline rude is an understatement! I've called them out on it too (like you have). It's outrageous.

As far as the manager goes, I think it was more ineptitude than avoidance. I stated my name, and "click". But at that point I was so disappointed that I wrote them off altogether instead of trying to have a conversation. I'm in sales and management so I don't really go crazy on people very often. I tend to ask if there's anything that can be done or make suggestions, and if nothing comes of it I do my best to make sure that EVERYONE hears about how an establishment treats its customers. That being said, if someone treats me right (more often than not), I sing their praises as often and loudly as possible. It's a two-way street!:)

I was born in chico and my whole family lives there. I actually used to do voice-over radio ad's for Chuck Patterson Toyota when I was like 7 hahaha, my dad used to own a recording studio there for about 12 years.

Anyway, I bought my 4runner from my grandfather not too long ago. He bought it new in 1996 and it has been maintained it's whole life by chuck patterson toyota....they must be doing something right given I just rolled over 378k.
He just bought a brand new 2011 TE, he is about 85 years old hahaha. Awesome.

They are a good dealership though I have not experienced the current employees... so maybe things have changed.
