Cigarette Lighter Power Question

Do any of you know if outlet power is available with the keys out of the ignition. Both the dash and glovebox outlet turn off when key is out of ACC position... I guess I am wondering if there is a Dealer option to reprogram this.

Idealy, I would like to charge my cell phone while its locked in the car. (It would also be helpful to charge up a laptop with the three prong outlet while the key is out of ignition).

Doubt the dealer can "reprogram" it. You'll need to do the always-on outlet mod.

I imagine on the 5th it'll be done in similar fashion to the 4th's.

I had a car one time where you just needed to switch the position of a fuse under the dash. Sort of like a jumper. You could look in the fuse box and see if there is an extra position for the outlet.

Just a reminder:

If you do this mod, make sure you include an in-line fuse. It can get very messy and smoky and stinky if you have a short with no fuse to protect the circuit. Take it from someone who's been there!

@ ckon...what size fuse did you put in your 12v power mod after you removed the relay?
