Cigarette lighter too tight!

Tried to pull out the cigarette lighter and ended up pulling out the entire housing. I've never had to use the cigarette lighter otherwise I would've found this problem sooner. I don't know why it is so tight. Basically if I want to use my cigarette lighter, the whole housing will come out from my center console, rather than just the cigarette lighter itself. Has anyone had this problem know of a fix?

I have the same problem... "Fixed" it by using 2 hands... Don't use it enough to bother me, just to plug in my phone.

Perhaps try polishing up the inside of it..?

mine does this too. I just replaced it with one of those stealth duel USB things to charge what ever

Cigarette lighter doesn't work.

I used to use my cigarette lighter for and aftermarket MP3 player plug in. I believe it may have blown a fuse though. I checked the fuse designated "accessory" but that appears to be fine. I also read somewhere that there may be an inline fuse somewhere behind the cigarette lighter location. Anyone know about this? BTW, I have a 2001 4Runner.
