Clang noise when turning slightly

Hi, I've got a 2002 4Runner and the car has started making a brief but loud metal clang when I turn a little bit. It's usually on left turns and at speeds below 30 MPH. It doesn't happen on sharp turns and seems to happen either when turning from a stop or turning while already in motion. It sounds like metal-on-metal and I can feel the thump under my feet while driving.

I've read the other threads here and it doesn't seem to be related to what's been posted, such as something stuck in the wheel well or metal hitting metal on sharp turns.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Also I should add that the car has about 75k miles and the noise has been happening only since the weather has been very hot. (No idea if it will go away when the temperature is lower.)

Sounds kind of like what my truck is doing. Ive noticed some play in the rack and pinion. like where the inner tie rod end is connected, so ive decided to get it rebuilt. I am expecting it back tomorrow and then ill be putting it back on. Ill report back as to what i find. also have you checked your tie rod ends? inner and outer?

maybe the dust cover behind the wheel. I know if mine gets bent in, when i turn it makes a metal on metal sound. I just bend it in a little and problem solved.
