Well, after 11 years of rough, rough driving, my 99 4runner Sport has a very dusty, old smell to it. I'm wondering what the best way to clean out all the air ducts would be. Is this even possible? I've already cleaned off the blower fan and kind of just want to continue with as much as I can get to. Does anyone have any suggestions or a link to directions on how to remove and clean all the ducts?

damn -- wish someone had replied here. What did you ever find out? I had a mouse in my rig a few years back and it left some acorns that are rotting in the ducts. Trying to figure out how to get it all apart and clean the insides.

Having partially dismantled the dashes on a Toyota 4WD truck, 2 Land Cruiser FJ60s, and my current 4Runner, my observation is that, armed with the FSM, you just start disassembling it and let your eyes guide you from there. Eventually you see the ducts and how they are put together. Olde fashioned repair work. Make sure you have the time to spend.
