Cleaning dashboard

I have a 2005 4Runner Sport Edition. The dashboard is not like an dashboard I'vd had in any other card. It doesn't feel like plastic. It kinda feels like suede. I wanted to know how you guys clean it. Will Armor All mess it up in any way?

Get a california Duster---that is the only thing I use to clean (dust) the inside of my entire turck. Even when dirty, it works great! I have a really small one that I keep in the storage area in the rear-right of the truck. Perfect for killing time waiting for Dr's appointments!

armor all is bad for your dash. eventually (yrs down the road) the sun and armor all combined can crack your dash

California Duster does nothing but fling all the dust into the air.. which then resettles back onto the dash.

Here's a better way in my opinion, SWIFFER. Picks it all up and it won't leave your dash gleaming shiny. It'll leave it nice and clean. Well.. once in awhile you'll want to use a trim/vinyl protectant.

Couldn't agree more. I will only use this stuff on my interior. Its a little on the pricy side but in my opinion very worth it.

Simple Green on mine once a month and an occasional rub down with Meguire's Natural Shine protectant. Simple Green also doesn't seem to build up static thus collecting dust so easily.

Isn't Simple Green a degreaser? Won't it dry out the dash?

Couldn't agree more. I will only use this stuff on my interior. Its a little on the pricy side but in my opinion very worth it.

I third the 303 recommendation. It does seem pricey but should be diluted with water for this type of application anyway.

To clean, I like to use 1Z Cockpit Premium or Sonus Cockpit Detailer. They leave behind some slight protection but very little, but have no shine at all. I agree, 303 Aerospace is a good protectant.

I'll also recommend Aerospace 303. It is an excellent UV protectorant and does not leave the surface sticky or shiny. Around my area I can only find it at pool product stores. It's used to UV protect around pools. Try it.

Just use a damp cloth wet only with water...

That's all I use on my cars; all 6 of them.

To protect from UV rays, nothing is more effective than either a) a parking garage at work during the day, or b) a sun shade on the windshield when you can't park indoors.

I don't believe in any "UV protecting" cleaners... Dashes in newer cars don't have a tendency to crack like cars used to that were made before the late '80s.

I use Armorall cleaner as of late, it's a purple bottle. I refuse to use their protectant though. I just have some spare Armorall cleaner, so I use it, probably don't really need to purchase it though. When I've used the last of the wipes, it'll probably just be water and a soft cloth, as all the really needs to be cleaned off most of the time is dust. Though, for protectant, I currently use Vinylex. Good product.. I'd like to give 303 Aerospace a try sometime though, see a comparison between the two..

All automotive glass filters out most of the UV light, which is why one cannot get a tan or sunburn while inside. So it must be something other than UV. The sun throws out many different wavelengths, so one of them is responsible. Maybe minuet UV doses over years and years is the culprit?

I have not cleaned it yet. I will try the microfiber and h20.

I like to alternate between 303 and Vinylex. Neither leaves a shine.
