cleaning mass airflow sensor

Right now in all city driving, I'm getting around 10 MPG. This is pretty bad, someone recommended cleaning my mass airflow sensor before I go take it for service.

So I'm probably going to go do it Saturday.

What do I need to do, where is it? What products do I need? How hard is it?

this weekend?! do it right now! if you have those dust cleaner or whatever, that also works too!

Try using electronic cleaner with no residue, also the spray can air, and set on low. Worked well for me. Just becarful with the MAF dont use lots of presure.

Actually, CNC now makes a MAF cleaner. It is safe, and doesn't leave any residue. I cleaned mine, and noticed a slight increase in milage. I got it at Checkers...right next to the electronics cleaner.

I think it's the MAF sensor or my oxygen sensor. I'll definately do it this weekend when I have time on my hands.

If clenaing the MAF sensor doens't work, its going to go in to get serviced.

I shoot my MAF once a year now with that CRC stuff. I think every 30 k miles would be the best however I do it when ever I change my air filter. On the 4th gen it only takes 30 seconds to remove. The MAF is one of the most important sensors in the vehicle for calculating air-to-fuel ratio.

I've hear replacing spark plugs and air filter can help with gas mileage too.
