Is it safe to wash the engine???

It's really dirty and I was thinking of using my hose.

Hey there I do mine every couple of months. run your engine to warm up, turn off. spray some simple green or Purple stuff on it, let sit for a couple of minutes and spray off. Try not to get directly on your paint as it could harm the finish. I haven't done this in years (harm the paint) but you at least need to know. good luck, CSM-H

Also be careful and don't spray anything electrical with a hard direct spray.

CLEAN

cover you alternator and anything else you don't want to get wet with aluminum foil and go to town. I use simple green then get a old paint bruch and hit everything then wash off blow with compressed air and smile
