Clear Plasti Dip Used As Paint Protection?

I've been seeing everyone and their dog plasti dipping everything they can on their 4Runners from emblems, rims, interiors, bumpers, etc etc. usually always in black but yesterday when I went out to buy a bunch of plasti dip I noticed they sell a clear one as well. Has anyone on this forum tapped off the front of their 4runner and put a good coat of clear instead of dropping $500+ on
3M coatings?

I couldn't find any threads but if someone has one, could you please point me in that direction? I'm curious about doing this since plasti dip seems pretty amazing.

I'm also doings the obligatory emblem blackout....of course

If it is anything like the black plasti dip i would stay away for your purposes, considering its very easy to stain the normal style.

My advice would mirror John's. I've read a few posts suggesting using a satin clearcoat over Plastidip to extend the life of the Plastidip.

I figured there must be a reason people haven't done this already. I guess I'll just stick to the black plasti dip on the emblems for now.

by the way, Canadians pay WAY more for plasti dip than you guys from the U.S. I was reading about you guys buying them for $6/can and when I went to get some from the only place in town I could find it, they were charging $16/can. For some reason Home Depot in Canada doesn't carry Plasti Dip like they do in the States.
