Cleghorn Ridge trail advice for December 28?

Hi all.

My friends (with a Jeep) and I (with my T4R) are looking for an easy, but fun trail to do next Monday. I live in Orange County and my friends live in Simi Valley.

Is Cleghorn open and easily passable right now? I'm wondering too about the amount of snow/water on the trail.

Also, would it work out to start at the Cajon Pass then end near Silverwood lake? If so, how would you recommend we go home? Should we just back-track the same trail? Or is there another fun option?

Also, it seems like there are parallel trails -easy and hard. How do I stay on the easy trail?

Just did Pilot Rock yesterday, trail was dirt, mud, and patchy snow no deeper than 2" and only here and there and it's higher elevation than Cleghorn. As far as I can remember (it's been a while) it's easy to tell which trail you're on - the easy one is wide and not rutted, the hard trail is really rutted and pretty skinny in a lot of parts. You can continue on to Pilot Rock and then to Lake Arrowhead (where I live) if you don't want to go home the way you came. Here's a shot of me yesterday:

Cleghorn is passable right now. The main trail is all Fireroad and easy, you actually have to turn off of it to do the more challenging of-shoots. I have done the trail once and was easy to tell. The way I went is the most common which is entering from Cleghorn road off the 15 and headed up towards Silverwood lake.
